We will also engage in practices together from the different soulfulness practice domains (e.g., Body and Breath, Ubuntu, Inner Awareness & Attunement, Collective Wisdom, Creative-Expressive). The goal is to support you in establishing a strong foundation for integrating soulfulness into your healing and wellness practices. All sessions will include time in communal meditation and interactive dialogue focused on applying the soulfulness principles and practices to your own life. Learnings from Dr. Harrell's sabbatical travels to Ghana, Senegal, and Cuba will be integrated. Emphasis will be on the lived experience, healing, and wellness of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). As such, this first class cycle of Level 2 is for BIPOC participants only.

What is Soulfulness?

Embodied Inner Aliveness, Wisdom, & Interconnectedness

Soulfulness is offered as a path to healing, wellness, and resilience. It is conceptualized as a quality of experiencing and inner knowing that is deeply connected and connecting, an enlivened inner attunement that illuminates authentic lived experience and radiates into outer expression. It is an “interconnected aliveness” that is often experienced as a resonating, liberating, life-enhancing, spiritually-infused energy of deep connectivity and inspired expression. Soulfulness is inspired by and infused with African and diasporic cultural themes including: an ethos of interconnectedness, a relational/communal sensibility, the centrality of spirituality, a holistic orientation to human experience, creativity and improvisation, music and movement, and overcoming adversity. Ultimately, soulfulness is a path to liberation– experientially, relationally, spiritually, and collectively.
